No president in America has ever been mimicked like George W. Bush, and no one has ever mimicked Bush better than Will Ferrell.  Ferrell rode his impression of the former president to superstardom on Saturday Night Live.  Ferrell took his most famous impression to Broadway for a one man show.  The show basically consists of Bush’s career as Governor of Texas, and President of the United States.  The question is, can Ferrell be as funny as the actual George W. Bush.

The answer is mostly yes.  This is a very funny Broadway show.  The first 30 minutes and the last 30 minutes are very funny, but oddly enough the middle 30 minutes sort of lags.  Sometimes, I thought Farrell was coasting, relying on his reputation and viewers recollections of how funny the Bush impression was.  Maybe the 90 minutes was just too long to do one impression.  Maybe he should have cut out all the weak material.  It was more funny than not, but I was expecting this show to be wall to wall laughs, and it was not.  There was even one intentionally serious moment that turned out to be awkward, more than sincere.  I won’t name the specific comedy bits, I will let the viewer watch this and decide for him or herself how funny You’re Welcome is.  Be warned there are pictures of male nudity, so it’s not exactly for the kiddies, or conservative parents.

You’re Welcome America. Thank You Will, for a mostly funny show.
